Helen embarks on a passionate affair with a man who has no idea what her secret identity is
Caught at gunpoint when her lover falls victim to London’s dangerous underworld, Helen’s employer calls in Sam to protect her. Bing, the owner of the guitar shop where Sam gets his guns, is played by Rat Scabies, a member of the classic punk band The Damned.

There’s a lot to like about Black Pigeons, once you get past the fact that it’s pretty unbelievable! Keira Knightly plays the wife of the British Minister of Defense, but who is actually a trained assassin working for a mysterious organization (yes, yes, she would never pass muster, I know!).
The plot introduces some of her colleagues, who include a bunch of mixed characters, but who are actually very entertaining, with a nod to Guy Ritchie
There’s an underlying element of homosexuality with her co-star Ben Whishaw, who plays a gay man groomed to be a killer by his father, who was also one. This gave Whishaw the opportunity to play a rather nuanced, tortured role in a rather likable way, but it reminds me of why my wife and I enjoyed Korean and Japanese dramas, which lack graphic depictions of sex.
The plot moves along at a good pace, and there are some wonderful caricatures in the mixed bag of killers in Black Pigeons
The plot involves gang warfare, the CIA, and an international incident that threatens to lead to a major conflict between China, the UK, and the US. Overall, despite being really quite far-fetched, it’s an enjoyable watch, and Knightly does a credible job as a rather scary girl, very convincing in her role.
Definitely worth a watch!
